Disciplinary Literacy Coach

Amy Reece is a Disciplinary Literacy Coach with the NWREC2 and works with high school teachers to help them improve the reading, writing, speaking, and thinking skills of their students. Before joining NWREC2,  she was a classroom teacher for 27 years in a variety of areas, including music, band, social studies, and ELA. She has served as a Senior Program Manager for K-12 Literacy at the University of New Mexico and as an adjunct instructor for Central New Mexico Community College, teaching in the alternative teacher licensure program. She has a B.S. in Education with endorsements in Reading, Social Studies, ELA, and Performing Arts and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on AP teaching. She also has an M.A. in history with a focus on the U.S. West. She is a National Board-Certified Teacher in Adolescent and Young Adult ELA and a LETRS Certified Facilitator. She is married to a pastor, and they have three adult children, two of whom are teachers with Albuquerque Public Schools. In her spare time, she enjoys taking long walks with her dogs, reading, writing, painting, and knitting.
