Public Comment – NWREC2 Governing Council Meetings

NWREC2 welcomes public participation at Governing Council meetings and values input from our member districts, partners, and community members.

Request to Speak

Individuals wishing to address the Governing Council during the Public Comment portion of the meeting must complete and submit a Public Comment Request Form prior to the start of the meeting.

  • In-Person Meetings: Public Comment Request Forms will be available at the meeting location.
  • Virtual Participation: Individuals attending virtually may download the Public Comment Request Form from this webpage and submit the completed form by email before the meeting begins to: Valerie Trujillo, Executive Director -  valere@nwrec2.org

Forms submitted after the Public Comment portion of the meeting has begun may not be accepted.

Public Comment Guidelines

  • Each speaker will be limited to three (3) minutes.
  • Public comments are intended to provide the Governing Council with input on matters within its jurisdiction.
  • The Governing Council will not engage in discussion or take action on matters raised during Public Comment unless the item has been properly noticed on the meeting agenda, in accordance with the New Mexico Open Meetings Act.
  • Speakers are encouraged to present their comments respectfully and concisely.

Completed forms may be:

  • Submitted in person before the meeting begins, or
  • Emailed to valerie@nwrec2.org prior to the start of the meeting.

The location for the meeting will be at the  Los Alamos National Lab Foundation Building, 1112 Plaza Del Norte, Espanola, NM 87532 unless noted otherwise.

Function

The council shall be the policy forming and evaluative body of the REC, and it shall perform the following functions:

  • Hire an Executive Director
  • Meet regularly for financial approval and program updates
  • Approve Policies
  • Approve Budgets
